Some Recent Talks and Outings

In September 2023 many members of the society drove out to Lilfordia School where the Headmaster gave an interesting talk on the rich history of the school. After a tour of the school members enjoyed a picnic lunch under the shade of the numerous trees.

In May 2023  Dr Charles Waghorn presented a fascinating talk entitled

“Land Rover, a 75 year journey, from England to Zimbabwe”.

    A history of the Rover car company’s development and launch of the new “go anywhere” vehicle that took the world by storm, and helped to explore many parts of the world. A mainly pictorial record of the Land Rover history in Zimbabwe. 

On Sunday, 26th March 2023, after the AGMs, Robin Taylor gave a short talk entitled
“Connecting Mashonaland by rail from East to West”.
Robin is a regular contributor to Heritage and has been a speaker at our meetings on numerous occasions. He has a wide interest and knowledge in many areas of our history, notably transportation and in particular that involving rail transport. Members were treated to another well presented and well researched talk.
